Dr. Kuhu Roy writes,
Beloved
Churro was killed in a brutal death in a road hit.
He
had his meal on August 19 in the morning from Mrs Hansa Roy. His usual hyper
self, with springs on his legs, glittering eyes and a soft bark. Fifteen
minutes later, a man comes and informs her, as she was continuing with her
round, that a dog met with an accident. She returned to find everyone safe, but
there was no Churro. She searched everywhere, but to no leads. I went and
searched during the return round. Not a trace, no one had seen him. This
morning, Maa learned that Churro died.
His
body has not been found, so no room for dignified farewell.
I
still remember my last meeting with Churro. I always turn around while leaving
from every place, not knowing if we would ever meet again, given the
unpredictability of a life of a stray dog. His shining eyes and wagging tail
and a smiling face and his incredible dance moves, watch here https://youtu.be/_0925bp7Rvo?si=b_PABCxfLvQSw2B1
I
always promise them in my heart that when they would grow old, I would take
them home. To Churro I did as well. Everything is gone now as Churro is
dead.
I
am done with my niceties. May the one who gave him a brutal end, meet the same
fate. Who gave that driver the right to take away precious Churro's life? A
young, full of life dog he was.
It
will take a long time to accept and adjust to Churro's absence. He was one
among the toll tax collectors.
Churro
must have met his sibling in dog heaven, Saudamini, who too died in a road hit.
But in her case, it was only ten minutes of suffering. In case of Churro, it
took hours for him to die, writhing in pain, while we searched frantically for
him. Can you feel their pain?
